The headquarters Venizelos / Therisos Movement Headquarters

So called the headquarters of the Revolutionary Assembly in 1905, in Therisos, which organized the homonymous revolution against the authoritarian rule of the High Commissioner George. Nowadays, the building has been converted into a museum for the exposition of weapons, objects from that period and evidence of the revolutionary action of Eleftherios Venizelos.

The Church of St. Mary Magdalene

The church of Saint Mary Magdalene is located in the once aristocratic district of Halepa in Chania. It is a church of Russian architecture and style with a decorative dome built in 1901 by the High Commissioner of Crete Prince George in memory of his sister Maria’s stay in Chania. In May 1909 it was granted to the Municipality of Chania.
The House of Eleftherios Venizelos

It was built in 1880 by Eleftherios’ father, Kyriakos Venizelos, on land he bought four years before. It is a two-storey house in the villa type, which housed Eleftherios Venizelos, as well as various other personalities until 1927, when it was renovated. Today it is the headquarters of the “Eleftherios K. Venizelos” National Research and Studies Foundation.
